Krista and Jeff’s Sydenham Ridge wedding day was magical. Surrounded by lush forest trails and holding hands in front of a 200-year-old oak tree, they shared their sweet vows. With their closest family, friends, and little ones as witnesses, the day was filled with a blur of laughter and the love of family.
It began as a love-to-hate relationship with Jeff (her landlord). Krista was not crazy about him at all. But when they met by fate four years later at Joe Kools, suddenly she saw him in a different light. They knew they were meant to be together. And like all good love stories, there are so many meanings wovens throughout their journey. Including their wedding date. With three beautiful children—Madison, Evelyn, and Theo—they decided to make their wedding date the days their children were born: 08.08.20. How beautiful is that?!
There was one incredibly strong theme on Krista & Jeff’s wedding day: Family means everything. From how each of their children had a place and role on the day, to honouring Jeff’s friend who had passed away with setting aside a beer for him, to how Krista’s favourite image was of her grandparents kissing, one thing is clear. They are a tight-knit crew. Krista and Jeff show what it means to put people first and that the greatest treasures on earth are the relationships we have.
Sydenham Ridge Estates is a stunning getaway located in the forest. Krista got ready with her girls in the cabin onsite (and even made time for a luxurious wedding day bubble bath!). With plenty of greenery and good vibes all around, it was so special to photograph this family’s love story.
The bride’s dress was a custom low-back Anomalie gown. And with hair by Marsha Burton Horth from Salon 7 and Makeup by Samantha Blatnicky, Krista looked divine. Tones of sage, pinks, foliage and a little bit of sparkle made this day show-stopping beautiful.
There’s something so simple and gorgeous about sharing vows in front of a big tree that has weathered the storms and sunshine of life. Like real love, it stays and is a forever shelter. Their ceremony at the old oak tree was breathtaking. The rustic benches and tree focal point was simply perfect while the ceremony singers created a laidback, heartfelt soundtrack to usher in the celebration.
There were so many happy moments. When Krista kissed her daughter on the forehead, also the youngest of bridesmaids there who was moved deeply with happy tears throughout the ceremony. Their two youngest little ones walking down the aisle with daddy, including Theo in a wagon. The father-daughter dance between Krista and her Grandpa, the sweetest Father she could have ever asked for. Groomsmen celebrating Jeff while also celebrating a friend heaven-side who would be there if he could. And also lots of teasing at a reception as well as tender moments during the father-daughter and first dance that will live forever. In the flurry of their day, it was still pure magic.
Krista and Jeff, thank you for the honour of being there on your day to capture the story of your beautiful day. We look up to you and the tribe of amazing humans you are raising. And most of all, how you love each other and those around you! Wishing you so much more laughter and joy on this life journey together as you walk hand-in-hand together. xo D&S
