When it comes to finding the perfect estate wedding venue, brides seek not just a space but an experience—something that’s both visually stunning and uniquely memorable. Tucked away in the charming town of Goderich, Ontario, Lune offers a premier, elevated creative space for those seeking something unique.
Lune is really not your typical event venue—it carries with it a rich history that adds character and depth to its offerings. Originally built in the early 1900s, this grand building once served as a historic landmark in Goderich, embodying the town’s growth and prosperity. Over the years, it has transformed into one of the region’s most beloved venues, undergoing extensive renovations that marry modern luxury with its classic architectural beauty.
The venue pays homage to original historic details, with restored elements like marble floors, fresco painted walls, and large windows that let in natural light. These features serve as a nod to its storied past while also providing a blank canvas for modern-day brides to bring their wedding vision to life.
In 2018, the owners, Lisa and Ezra discovered a hidden property in the Ontario countryside. It was barely visible from No. 8 Highway and sat at the end of a long, tree-lined drive. It had served as both a family home and an entertainment space for 160 years and was built even before Canada’s founding, in 1860. The land on which Lune sits, including farmland and forests, is part of the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral peoples. Lisa and Ezra honour this history. The exterior, modelled after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s Isle of Wight summer residence, also remains unchanged to this day.
Inspired by this rich backstory, Lisa and Ezra knew they wanted the house to become a gathering place once again. They renamed the manor house to Lune 1860 (French for “moon”) and have crafted eight distinctly designed spaces, each inspired by a lunar phase. The owners believe that gathering with loved ones creates beautiful moments. They want couples getting married to experience how special this property is and to create meaningful moments they won’t forget.
From the moment you step into Lune, it becomes clear that this is a venue where elegance and creativity intertwine. The architecture is grand. But it’s also flexible enough to accommodate a variety of wedding styles, ranging from minimalist chic to opulent extravagance. The large open-concept layout allows for endless customization, giving couples the freedom to design their day exactly as they’ve always imagined.
Lune’s eight unique spaces symbolize the phases of the moon. Each phase is a unique venue within the property, allowing for a variety of gatherings and celebrations. Below is a look at the enchanting spaces offered by Lune.
The Garden is a place of wild, natural beauty. With grassy fields, wildflowers, moss-covered stone paths, and a pond, this outdoor space feels like a dream come to life. Framed by ancient evergreens and maples, it can host up to 100 guests, making it perfect for outdoor weddings from late spring through early fall.
At the intersection of Lune’s avenue is its historic stone-walled fountain, inspired by classic Italianate style. Surrounded by towering pines, The Fountain is an enchanting spot for a wedding ceremony.
The Light Room symbolizes the light side of the moon, where natural light pours through two grand arches, illuminating milky-coloured frescoed walls. With two marble fireplaces and custom sconces, the room feels magical, especially as dusk falls. This airy space can accommodate up to 40 seated guests, creating a romantic setting for an intimate wedding reception.
The Dark Room contrasts its lighter counterpart, representing the unseen half of the moon. Its inky black frescoed walls, black marble fireplace, and gilded mirror cast dynamic shadows, offering a moody yet elegant ambiance. This space can host up to 28 seated guests, creating a dramatic atmosphere for evening gatherings.
At the heart of Lune is The Arc, a hallway illuminated by a Davide Groppi Moon Pendant. With its hand-sculpted barreled ceiling and candlelit tables, this intimate space is perfect for quiet conversations and spellbinding dinners. The Arc accommodates up to 20 guests, offering an unforgettable experience beneath the glow of the moon.
Bathed in natural light, The Table overlooks the gardens through rows of French windows. Inside, a custom-sculpted plaster table and arched lighting create an inviting dining experience. The adjoining kitchen, with its brass island and onyx backsplash, echoes the moon’s rocky terrain. The table can accommodate up to 18 seated guests.
The Loft will add another breathtaking space to Lune’s offerings in 2025.
Inspired by Mediterranean trips to Spain and Italy, The Garden Terrace is a sun-baked stone patio framed by hand-sculpted stucco walls. With elegant lounge furnishings and soft ivory pea gravel, this outdoor space is a tranquil retreat. It can host up to 70 guests, providing a private setting for outdoor receptions.
For couples preparing for their big day, Lune offers a luxurious Primary Bath + Dressing Suite. This spacious area features a rain shower, dual vanities, a fireplace, and French doors opening to a porch. It’s a perfect place to refresh, relax, and get ready in style before stepping into your dream wedding.
